## Caption

Class of 2025 graduate Greta Carlson will attend the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology this fall where she will be majoring in engineering design as well as playing collegiate volleyball for the school. She initially heard about the school from her mom, and when she learned that it had a top-ranked engineering program, and she could continue playing volleyball there, it felt like the perfect fit.

“I got to meet all the girls in volleyball,” Carlson said. “I love the coach, and they offered a really great balance of my sport and academics, and so, all of that together, I just knew that was the place for me.”

Carlson hadn’t taken any engineering classes until her sophomore year due to a scheduling conflict with volleyball, but she immediately enjoyed how it embraced her love of math and science as she was able to combine them.

“I had so much fun learning how to do CAD and Inventor,” Carlson said. “The third-year class is a lot of projects and design challenges, and that was the most fun class I ever had, and I just knew from then on that engineering was the degree for me.”

She worries about being homesick but knows that she is going to her perfect school and won’t regret her decision.

“I’m so excited to go there and know I’m gonna have a great time and get a really great education,” Carlson said. “I think I’m just gonna miss the people because I love the volleyball team, I love my friend group, so it’s gonna be hard to be so far away from everybody, but I know we’ll all keep in touch.”
