GOING FOR GOLD: What the participants called the McCallum Knight Olympics took place on Tuesday May 20 and Thursday May 22. The Olympics pitted fourth-period girls sports class members against each other in multiple competitions, including dodgeball, tug-of-war, weight lifting, hula hooping, running and more. All fourth-period girls sports students took place in the Olympics. The competitors included soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball players. 

For sophomore Lujain Al Hallaq, a member of the girls basketball team, the Olympics helped her bond with people in other sports.

“I really enjoyed getting to know people from other sports”, Al Hallaq said, “I never really get to see my friends in other sports, so it was really cool to spend some time and get to know them better”.

Al Hallaq was a member of the “Skibidi Slay Sisterhood team,” who showed their strengths in many events. The team took second place in dodgeball, tug-of war, sunflower spitting and the Oreo competition. The Oreo competition included a team member putting an Oreo on their forehead, and trying to guide it into their mouth without using their hands.

“My team put in a lot of effort for this and worked really hard in all the challenges” Al Hallaq said,
“We got second in almost everything, so I’m really proud of us”.

Al Hallaq enjoyed the tug-of-war competition, because the whole team got to compete together. For next year, Al Hallaq hopes to get more sports involved in the games.

“I hope next year we can add other sports in, like dance and cheer,” Al Hallaq said. “It would be nice for them to be included, and it would be fun to get to know even more people.”
