The USS Nimitz, the U.S Navy's oldest aircraft carrier, is sailing to help out in the Middle East.

The carrier is being deployed with the 4 Strike Fighter Squadron.

USS Carl Vinson was the only aircraft carrier in the region as of last Friday, U.S. defense officials told Fox News.

The Nimitz strike group was previously scheduled to replace the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group.

The USS Carl Vinson has been deployed in the Middle East for Several months.

The USS Nimitz is the oldest active aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy and is planned to be decommissioned in 2026 after 50 years of service.
