A day of mixed fortunes for IPT at the tourdesuisse_official 🇨🇭 

joeblackmore03 🇬🇧 finished seventh on stage 7️⃣, which culminated at the top of a short but steep climb up to Emmetten. This was the 22-year-old’s second best result to date in WorldTour races, and he goes into Sunday’s ITT sitting 20th on GC. 

hugohoule 🇨🇦 came 18th having been part of the day’s seven-rider breakaway group, and georgenbennett 🇳🇿 moved up to 13th overall after crossing the line in 22nd. 

Unfortunately, matthewriccitello 🇺🇸 had to abandon the race after crashing in opening kilometers. The American started the day ninth overall; an update on his condition will follow in due course. 

Blackmore says: “Losing Matthew today after a crash was a real shame. We just had to make the most out of the stage after this. Hugo got himself in the breakaway, and I got a good run in to the bottom of the penultimate climb. Unfortunately George got held up there. I felt better as the climb went on, and then I was just trying to stay in the wheels on the final climb. When I wasn’t dropped I knew I could back my sprint to get a nice top-10. It’s nice to end the final road stage feeling good after a hard week of racing so far.”
