A season’s best result for matthewriccitello at the tourdesuisse_official ☑️ 

The American rider finished fifth on stage 5️⃣ after two ascents of the steep and narrow climb to Santa Maria. Riccitello paced his effort brilliantly and finished strongly. 

The 23-year-old moved up three places to ninth overall with three stages - including Sunday’s hill-climb ITT - remaining. 

“The team was great,” says Riccitello. “We didn’t put a foot wrong all day. In the end I just didn’t quite have the legs to follow Onley, Almeida and the others today, but there are still a couple hard days to come.”

Teammate georgenbennett now sits 15th overall after finishing 10th on the stage having supported Riccitello on the climbs.
