Class of 2026 four-star quarterback target Jaden O’Neal was perfecting his craft late last night, per his Instagram story.

O’Neal recently de-committed from the Oklahoma Sooners. The program picked up four-star signal-caller Bowe Bentley on Friday afternoon over LSU.

Why is this important to showcase on my account? The Seminoles have been trending in a positive direction for the Oklahoma product after their long search to find the mutual fit when former four-star commit Brady Smigiel backed off of his pledge when Gus Malzahn was hired to be the program’s offensive coordinator.

I know how some of the fan base feels: “We struck out on targets, such five-star Keisean Henderson, four-star Bowe Bentley, and four-star Landon Duckworth before finally getting serious traction with O’Neal?”

While I get the concern, O’Neal is the 14th-best quarterback prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings. For reference, four-star Miami commit Dereon Coleman is listed as the 13th-best while four-star Florida commit Will Griffin is the 15th-best in those rankings, so it comparable, according to their competition.

I know that five-star Keisean Henderson would have been the best fit for a Malzahn offense, but with him shutting his commitment down to Houston, the coaching staff had to expand its target board to other options (which is a good thing) to ensure that a talented signal-caller gets in the fold to compete with the likes of Brock Glenn and Kevin Sperry in 2026 (if 2025 is truly Castellanos’s final season of collegiate football). 

It is 11:12 PM on Friday night and O’Neal just finished his junior year of high school. Most youngsters his age would have enjoyed the night life, especially considering that school is over with until the fall, but it seems like he cares about getting better and loves the game of football. 🔥 #GoNoles #Tribe26 #fsufootball #jadenoneal
