Meet Adam Halperin, a rising leader at Rutgers who has made campus feel like home—not only for himself, but for countless others.

Adam kicked off his journey as a Leadership LLC resident his freshman year. Currently he serves as a Lead-Up LEAD Intern in the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, Work Study student in the Humanities Center, and active member of organizations like RUSA, Rutgers Business Governing Association, Alternative Breaks, and Rutgers Advocacy Corps, Adam is building a legacy of connection, civic engagement, and impact. This summer, he’ll represent Rutgers in Washington D.C. as part of the prestigious Scarlet Service internship, and next year he’ll continue supporting his peers as a Resident Assistant! 

When asked what’s been most meaningful, Adam shared:
“It’s the connections. I love recognizing familiar faces all over campus. It’s those bonds—with faculty, administrators, and students—that have made Rutgers feel like home.”

Adam’s leadership journey is fueled by a genuine desire to bring people together. From advocacy to mentorship, his involvement reflects both breadth and depth—and he’s been deeply supported along the way by various mentors.

As an out-of-state student, Adam knows firsthand the power of involvement:
“I didn’t know a single person when I arrived. Every opportunity I took to get involved helped me build community and discover who I wanted to become.”

To future leaders, Adam offers this advice: “Academics are important, but don’t underestimate the value of campus involvement. It shapes your experience—and your future.”
