It was called Illinois Industrial University, and parents kept asking to send their “troubled” kids! 🤯⁣

So in 1885, it became the University of Illinois—and reflected its growing academic mission.⁣
⁣⁣
“Urbana-Champaign” wasn’t added until 1982, when UIC was formed.⁣
