The Asiyah Women’s Center does NOT support a culture that protects abusers and silences survivors

It is horrifying that over $60 million in taxpayer dollars went toward shielding Andrew Cuomo from the consequences of his abuse. This isn’t just about politics. It’s about power used to hurt, silence, and erase women.

Charlotte Bennett was a young staffer who reported being sexually harassed and was pushed out. Lindsey Boylan was smeared after bravely speaking up. At least 1 women came forward-many of them young, vulnerable, and working under a man with unchecked authority. And for what? So he could walk away unscathed and reemerge without apology?

Abuse isn’t just the act-it’s the cover-up, the retaliation, the gaslighting that follows. Survivors carry that weight every day while the world moves on. Watching someone responsible for so much harm attempt to reclaim public attention, while the pain he caused is still unresolved, is retraumatizing. It’s disgusting. It’s heartbreaking.

We may not be able to take political positions as a nonprofit, but we can say this: Survivors deserve to be believed, not betrayed. Abuse should end careers-not be treated like a footnote. And no one, no matter how powerful, should be above accountability.
