You’ve seen the NMDP logo by Target Field, but do you know the story behind it? The first-ever unrelated bone marrow transplant was in 1973, but the turning point came for cancer patients in 1979, when Laura Graves became the first leukemia patient to receive one.

That journey led to the creation of the NMDP Registry in 1987, a life-saving innovation that finally made it possible to find matching donors from one centralized place. Based in Minneapolis, NMDP has been helping save lives ever since.
