This #SummerXMoody feature, Jazmin Martinez, is spending the summer working as a public affairs intern with Wells Fargo in Charlotte, North Carolina, specifically with the Strategic Planning and Political Programs team!

Jazmin is studying utexascld at #TEXASMoody, and she chose to intern at Wells Fargo because of the community engagement and philanthropic efforts. She loves the warm and welcoming environment that Wells Fargo has provided so far. “I feel like an asset in the role I fill, and the projects and opportunities I have been given reflect this feeling through and through.”

“The skills I have learned in my CLD classes have been incredibly valuable throughout my internship so far. I find myself using them daily, whether I’m creating thoughtful messaging, collaborating across departments, or contributing to business engagement initiatives.” Jazmin said it’s been gratifying to see how the concepts she’s studied in the classroom are continuing to help her make a real impact in the workplace and the world. Learning all about the different programs within Wells Fargo has been the most interesting part of her job.

Her favorite part of the internship has been attending Disney World in Florida! Wells Fargo flew all 1,190 interns out to Florida for an entire induction week. Another favorite memory is her first day at the office in Charlotte. “Going on tours of our gorgeous office buildings and seeing the views of Charlotte was incredible. It’s one of those “I made it” moments for sure.”

The hardest part has been experiencing homesickness for the first time in her life and knowing that this is part of growing up and being independent.

“I am grateful for all that I have learned, and all that is to come. It’s weird to think I will likely be a completely new version of myself when I get back to the 40 acres for my senior year, but frankly, I am excited to meet her.”

Jazmin’s been listening to “Unwritten” by Natasha Beddingfield on repeat, and she re-reads “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” every summer! It’s a tradition at this point, and she looks forward to it every time. What is your repeat song?
