Getting waived from the WNBA hit me harder than I thought it would. I’ve been the underdog my whole life — always grinding, always fighting for a chance, always having to prove myself just to be seen. And now, this setback feels like everything I worked for just slipped through my fingers. It’s been brutal. Some days I’m angry, some days I’m crushed. I won’t lie — it’s hard as hell.
But here’s the thing… I’m learning that being vulnerable, letting myself feel all this pain and frustration, that’s not weakness. That’s real. That’s human. And I’m not gonna pretend like I have it all together, because I don’t, which is why i’m sharing those video with all of you. I’m scared sometimes. I’m unsure. But giving up? No way. That’s not part of my story.
This moment, this struggle — it’s part of my journey, my testimony. It’s proof that I’m still here, still fighting, still believing there’s something bigger ahead for me. I’m learning to lean into my faith more than ever because I need that strength. Isaiah 40:29-31 hits home for me:
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
So yeah, this chapter sucks. But it’s not the end. For anyone else out there who’s been the underdog, who’s faced tough breaks, who’s struggling right now — it’s okay to be honest about it. Feel it. But don’t let it stop you. my mom always told me that it’s okay to cry, as long as it’s with a purpose. I encourage you to do the same if you’re ever in a rut. Your story isn’t over.
