Philippe Streiff was born 70 years ago On This Day. 🇫🇷 A French F3 champion and class winner at Le Mans, Streiff was left quadriplegic after a violent F1 testing crash at Jacarepaguá in 1989, with his injuries possibly worsened by untrained and slow rescue efforts. A gruelling rehab followed; it took two years for Streiff to learn to breathe.
 
With encouragement from Sir Frank Williams, Streiff remained close to F1, and was responsible for the well-loved Elf Masters karting tournament at Paris-Bercy. 👨‍🦽‍
