Get to know varsity tennis Coach David Johnson 🎾 “Never forget who you are and whose you are.”

Coach Johnson had dreamed of being a coach since high school when his own coach led him to the Lord. Now, he’s passing that legacy on by building a culture of hard work, class, and grit, always pointing his players back to their identity in Christ.

His coaching style? Positive, consistent, and high standards. Whether celebrating a win or learning from a loss, he reminds his team to do everything in love (1 Corinthians 16:13-14).

A moment he’ll never forget? Winning the Ashe Cup by beating Charlotte Christian and watching both #1 doubles teams take down Country Day.

A favorite tradition? Passing out game balls and celebrating what went well, even after a tough match.

His advice for summer? Practice hard, and don’t forget to enjoy the game.

“My prayer,” he says, “is that we keep getting better and never lose our love for tennis.”
