You may have noticed a recent influx of 'Rotary International' people in the city recently. If you don't know what they do, this was something shared in a chatroom I'm in and I feel it kinda covers it? Please fill in any blanks

I know all about the rotary club. Was surrounded by them on the train and their conversations were so fascinating I had to put my book down and tell them they were interrupting me so explain what they do lol

 

Older folks. They were delighted. 

 

They basically get shit done where governments can't/wont. They've been eradicating polio worldwide and they are down to two countries left. 

 

Tons of shit they do. The 3 I was talking with were from Africa but they have people all over the world. They are here to open up the new year of their work and make partnerships with governments, companies, and to touch base with each other, induct the new president, share objectives, go to panels etc. 

 

Was very cool. One of them was working on giving eye glasses to high school students and then testing the scores between the two years when that was the only variable (in poor countries). 

 

Polio and water are their biggest things they work on.

 

They need people to join, money, and awareness. Without people, the money is useless. Without awareness there is no people. Getting harder and harder to recruit younger folks (was all my grandparents and parents age, a few my age).
