Last month we made the HUGE mistake of missing our ferry ⛴️ — by 10 minutes. We could either: wait in the crazy line for the next available ferry (12 hours), or drive 2 hours to another port and wait 4 hours 😣. 
•
📍 If you’d like to visit the gorgeous islands in British Columbia, including Vancouver Island…. 
•
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED to KNOW ⬇️🇨🇦
•
FIRST - While you can fly to some islands ✈️, taking a ferry is a much less expensive! ⛴️. Below are tips to travel by ferry 👍. 
• 
1️⃣ PLAN Your Route on @bcferries. 
Vancouver & Vancouver Island have multiple ferry terminals. Select the nearest terminal to your destination! (Select ‘Nanaimo’ if you’re headed to #Tofino 😉). 
•
2️⃣MAKE RESERVATIONS - during peak travel times, especially in the summer and on weekends, ferry reservations are HIGHLY recommended. We rolled up on a Friday afternoon and saw the craziest line we’ve EVER seen! Folks without reservations may have waited 10+ hours for the next available ferry 😱. 
•
3️⃣ CHECK the Schedule: departure times vary by day and season! 
•
4️⃣ DRESS accordingly: even if you travel during the summer, the weather on the deck can be chilly and windy! 
•
5️⃣Traveling with a vehicle? Make a reservation for your vehicle as well! Vehicle spaces can fill up quickly during busy times. 
•
6️⃣ARRIVE EARLY!! Did we mention we missed our booked ferry? 😣 It’s mandatory to arrive 30 minutes in advance! We recommend arriving at least 60 minutes prior to departure.

TIP: ⚠️ Make reservations online through @bcferries — it’s fast and convenient. DON’T wait until you arrive to the terminal! 🫠
