@NYCParks offers free swimming lessons at recreation centers & pools across the 5 boroughs!

Knowing how to swim is a valuable skill that can improve your health and fitness, and even help save your life. You’ll learn a variety of skills based on age and skill level: from floating for tots to arm strokes for adults

UPDATE: It looks like only kids and adults w/ toddlers can register for the below summer sessions. Stay tuned because @nycparks offers adults and senior sessions year round!

You must register online for the Learn to Swim lottery. There are 4 sessions and registration periods:

Session 1: July 7 - 21
Register by July 1

Session 2: July 23 - August 6
Register by July 17

Session 3: August 8 - 22
Register by August 1

Advanced Session: August 25 - 29
Register by August 15

*dates may vary slightly by pool/level
