REVIEW: Nova Twins, Glastonbury 2025

With thousands having already poured into the Woodsies tent to escape the punishing afternoon sun, it was always going to take a particularly high energy outfit to wake up these punters. Enter Nova Twins, the perfect antidote to a sleepy Saturday, as when vocalist Amy Love declares that ‘we wanna see all of you jumping’ it is not a request, it is a necessary demand.

A pulsating ‘Antagonist’ raises the crowd to their feet while ‘Piranha’ sees the pair’s wailing guitars summon an early wall of death, much to the delight of the dedicated moshers camped out at the barrier. New material debuted from upcoming album ‘Parasites & Butterflies’ even gets hands raised in a Queen-esque stadium style with a few chants of ‘N-O-V-A’ thrown in for good measure.

Their third time playing this revered event, Love and bassist Georgia South continue to build on the platform afforded to them, speaking out for the marginalised and encouraging the crowd to continue raising their voices, a message very much in tune with the festival’s own values and hammered home as the pair dive into both sides of the circle pit.

As a ferocious ‘Monsters’ begins to bring proceedings to a close, Love simply states ‘We’ll see you next time’, and on their current incendiary form, it is a promise that will no doubt be fulfilled on bigger and bigger stages for years to come.
