REVIEW: Biffy Clyro, Glastonbury Festival 2025

‘Every time we play Glastonbury becomes our new favourite time.’ Old hands at the UK’s biggest festival, perhaps it is those decades of experience that lends Biffy Clyro the supreme confidence to rattle off megahits ‘That Golden Rule’, ‘Biblical’ and ‘Mountains’ in such early quick succession during this sundowner Pyramid Stage set. With a freshly announced album on the way and new era in full swing, the band are in typically slick form as they effortlessly switch from the heart wrenching harmonies of ‘Rearrange’ and ‘Biblical’ to the fiery howls of ‘Wolves Of Winter’ and a particularly bouncy ‘Bubbles’, perfectly aided by a fan in the moshpit who appears to have brought his own pocket sized bubble machine just for the occasion. Meanwhile, ‘Living Is A Problem…’ bleeds into a short and sweet tribute to the recently departed Brian Wilson as ‘God Only Knows’ brings a brief moment of levity to the sharp and joyously chaotic fan favourite.

‘Sing as loud as you fucking can’ implores Simon Neil, the crowd duly obliging as the trio bring the set to a close with a spellbinding ‘Many Of Horror’, his guitar raised over his head in victory. A welcome return from a band still very much at the peak of their festival conquering powers.
