## Caption

Microsoft's Windows 11 moved the volume and brightness indicators to the bottom of the screen and centralized it for the first time. Now, the company is working on a way to let you change where it appears, and you can even move it back to where it was in Windows 10.

As introduced in the latest Dev Channel version of Windows 11, spotted by The Verge, both brightness and volume levels as well as airplane mode and virtual desktops can be moved to either the top of the display in the center, or to the top left.

Microsoft says this was a “highly requested” change. You won’t be able to pick anywhere else to move these indicators to, meaning there's no option for the top right or either of the bottom corners. That appears to be to avoid interfering with other Windows buttons such as the minimize and close options in the top right.

This feature is currently limited to the company’s latest beta, but when it does arrive you'll be able to change this setting by heading to Settings > System > Notifications.
