storytime: my honeymoon destination has always been Hokkaido, Japan. Here’s why I went solo.

The imagery of northern Japan has always screeeamed romance to my little travel heart 🇯🇵

soft, fluffy snowfall. billowing steam from bubbling hot springs. Intimate meals shared on warm tatami mats. p l e a s e 😍❄️

so earlier this year when visit.sapporo invited me to visit, I was torn

This was my *dream* honeymoon spot and I was saving it to do it in a certain way. With the right person. At the right time.

right?

I was conflicted but I went anyway.

and every activity I’d imagined unfolded differently but beautifully

I witnessed diamond dust (saihyo 細氷) which I’d read about but always wanted to see, glittering in the air as I skied

I soaked in the healing onsen waters, and tried all the foods I’d saved to share with the loml

And I don’t regret going at all!

I know I’ll go back with someone’s son and see it with completely fresh eyes one day, even if I followed the exact same itinerary

Life’s sweetest moments aren’t meant to sit on a shelf. Candles are meant to be burnt, wine is meant to be savoured

You’re “the one” girl! the day is today! ✈️
