QUINCY JONES was a light to this world. Michael Jackson is actually the one who introduced us many years ago. Q had originally turned Michael on to my Personal Power tapes in the mid-eighties while Q was producing MJ’s Bad album. That’s how it all started…

Anyone that was lucky enough to know Q knows that he was nothing but PURE LOVE. To know Quincy was to love Quincy. Everyone loved him. Plus, he was no doubt THE coolest human being you’re ever going to meet.

He’d tell you the kind of stories that would just leave your jaw on the table. One day he’d be in the Middle East meeting with heads of the Israeli government and the next day he’d be talking to the PLO.

He was the king of rapport and connection. People on every side of every issue would go to Q. I deeply admire that ability of his as much as I admire his insane musical abilities and the way he courageously forged through color barriers becoming a VP at Mercury Records in the early 60s and the first Black musical director for the Academy Awards ceremony in ’71. The first movie he produced received 11 Oscar nominations!! (The Color Purple in 1986). He worked with everyone from Ray Charles to Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and Duke Ellington to Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Tony Bennett, Queen Latifah, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Donna Summer and Tupac just to name a few. Fun fact: he even produced the old classic “It’s My Party” by Lesley Gore.

Truly one most kind souls and generous friends we’ve ever had the privilege to adore. One of our favorite things is when he would call up Sage and I and say, “Hey, is this my brother from another mother and Canadian sister from another mister?” The rest was history. His house was THE social hub, his parties were off the charts, and he even came to seminars through the years and we’d have a blast. There was no laughter quite like laughs with Q. He was just pure joy. There will never be another like you.

Enjoy the music, dear brother. You are loved beyond all horizons and your magnificent legacy is eternal.
