Just stumbled across this gem from back in 2000, filmed at the OG spanx HQ… otherwise known as the spare bedroom in my apartment 😂 This was the day the oprah #’s fav things episode aired. Nothing like handling the whole country’s incoming orders and requests with one land line and call waiting. 🤪Remember call waiting?! Never mind the fact that the phone number on my website was my actual home phone number. 😳☎️ The “team” back then was my boyfriend, a few amazing friends (who probably didn’t know what they were signing up for), and me. 🙈 Spanx barely had a website, and when the episode aired, it crashed almost immediately. Orders started pouring in, and since the internet wasn’t cooperating, we took most of them BY HAND on the phone. Something like this was happening every week in that place. 😂 I was either taking orders from the bathtub, in my pajamas, in the middle of the night (try waking up from a dead sleep and trying to act like “customer service” and handwriting their info on a sheet of paper)… you name it! I remember there was a moment where I asked my friends if they wanted a drink, to which they replied “What do you have?” and I said “water… and tequila”. They chose tequila. 😂 It was unlike any corporate environment I ever worked at. And it reminds me that you don’t need fancy offices or a huge staff to start something great. Sometimes all it takes is a big dream and a willingness to mess up (and offer your friends tequila.) 😉❤️👍🏻 #entrepreneur #spanx
