#PressPlay: #Roommates, if you’re not familiar with what’s going on in Philly, residents are dealing with the AFSCME District Council 33, which represents around 9,000 of Philadelphia’s municipal workers, who are on day eight of their strike, impacting trash pickup and other services. Per nbcphiladelphia , the union is requesting higher pay.  ___________________________________ 
However, Mayor #CherelleParker is standing firm on her offer to give workers a raise of about 3% per year over a three-year contract. Workers are making nearly $46,000 annually. AFSCME District Council 33 represents around 9,000 workers employed in city functions such as sanitation, the water department, police dispatch, street maintenance, and the airport.

Reports state Union and city leaders met last on July 5th, but no agreement was reached. During a Tuesday morning hearing, a judge ordered eight airport dispatch workers to return to work and enforced an injunction that requires police dispatchers to continue to work amid the strike.
