Churros vs Porras at Madrid’s oldest Chocolatería 🍫🇪🇸

Founded in 1894, San Ginés is a Madrid institution and my number one recommendation for anyone visiting the city for the first time! The menu has two main offerings (besides the hot chocolate): churros and porras. 

Most people know churros, but have never heard of porras. Here’s a breakdown:

-both pastries are made using the same ingredients, but porras have either yeast or baking soda, making them thick and airy

-churros are crispier, denser, and have pronounced ridges

My advice for you is to order BOTH. Porras will absorb more chocolate while churros are deliciously crispy :)
