I’ve been prepping for my upcoming hospital delivery with a few key accessibility tools: clear masks for communication if needed, the Live Transcribe app on standby, and letting the nurses/staff know I’m DHH and my communication preferences ahead of time. 💪🏽

It hit me—these self-advocacy skills didn’t come out of nowhere. Years of IEP meetings, learning to speak up for what I need, and being supported (and sometimes challenged) helped me build the confidence to navigate moments like this as an adult.

✨ To the hearing parents of DHH kids: THIS is what you’re helping your child grow into. Confident DHH kids become confident DHH adults. Keep showing up, keep empowering them—it matters more than you know.
