After 13 years and 28 trophies, Luka Modrić’s Real Madrid career has come to a close. Despite crashing out of the FIFA Club World Cup in disappointing fashion in his 597th and final appearance for Los Blancos, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner will go down as a club legend.

Upon announcing his exit on social media, the 39-year-old Croatian said: “I’m leaving with a full heart. I’m filled with pride, gratitude and unforgettable memories. And even though, after the Club World Cup, I’m no longer going to wear this shirt on the field, I’ll always be a madridista.”

Modrić is expected to join Italian giant AC Milan for the upcoming season.
