#TSRUpdatez: As previously reported, AFSCME #DistrictCouncil33 workers, which represents nearly 9,000 workers in sanitation, the water department, police dispatch, and more, were on strike after the city and the union failed to reach a new contract.

The strike officially began on July 1st and ended on July 9th after a tentative agreement was reached. According to nbcphiladelphia, despite reaching an agreement, union leader #GregBoulware says he is unhappy about the agreement.

Boulware told reporters, “The city of Philadelphia has to do better by its members. Has to put the members and workers who handle all of the essential functions as a priority in this city. I don’t feel like that’s been done.”

Mayor #CherelleParker released a statement about the agreement, explaining that the new three-year contract, combined with the one-year contract extension agreed upon last Fall, will increase the members’ pay by 14% during her four years in office.
