“Cuando vayas a pintar, olvídate de los objetos que tienes delante—un árbol, una casa, una pradera o lo que sea. Piensa simplemente que hay aquí un cuadrado azul, allí un rectángulo rosado, allá un trazo amarillo, y píntalos como a ti te parezca, encuentra el color y la forma precisos, hasta que emerja tu propia e ingenua impresión de la escena ante ti.” 
 
Some advice from Claude Monet: 
 
“When you go out to paint, try to forget the objects before you, a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here is a streak of yellow, and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact color and shape, until it gives your own naive impression of the scene before you.”
