Meet Michael Shutt, '25, a LoyolaSellinger graduate who has found his calling as a future Roman Catholic priest.

"The greatest lesson I've learned at Loyola is to go where you are called. If you have a passion for something or natural talents that suit you, go in that direction. You will be most happy when you discover your purpose."

Whether leading a Kairos retreat, being a part of LoyolaSellingerScholars, LoyolaMarylandAbroad in Rome, or advising in the Loyola_Consulting_Group, Michael blended his interests in meaningful ways. Among all these experiences, his favorite was serving as a LoyolaCampusMin intern. "Being a part of the Catholic community at Loyola has been the most joyful, inspiring, and formative years of my life. Having the opportunity to serve students at all points in their faith journeys, and watching our community grow while being a part of Campus Ministry has been a true testament to the value of faith within Jesuit education."

"My faith is very important to me, and it is nice to be at a university where you can grow not only academically and professionally, but also spiritually. I really enjoyed Loyola's liberal arts curriculum, which helped me grow holistically and pushed me to engage with ideas and concepts I wouldn't have sought out on my own. You won't leave Loyola without a Jesuit understanding of the world and where your place is in it."

This fall, Michael will enter the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Priestly Formation program and attend Mount St. Mary's University to continue his path to the Roman Catholic priesthood.
