PVRIS, 2000trees Festival 2025

REVIEW: It feels like everything has been leading up to this for PVRIS.
Every fascinating era, every sonic exploration, every deep soul search has pointed towards an occasion like this, a headline set at the peak of a UK festival.
And from the moment that ‘Burn The Witch’ jolts into life with razor-sharp intensity, it’s clear that something special is afoot, a culmination of everything learned up till this point delivered in screaming colour.
Of course, there is much to celebrate right now, with the band’s debut album ‘White Noise’ hitting a decade out in the world, and much of it is showcased here. ‘St. Patrick’ is still as rousing, ‘Fire’ is still as ravenous and ‘Holy’ is still as scathing as when they were first unleashed, but they possess a different sort of potency in 2025 compared to 2014.
Much of that comes down to how much Lyndsey Gunnulfsen has continued to come into her own, riding every ebb and flow that the years have thrown at her to become an all-out superstar.
Presented alongside the squealing pomp of ‘Nightmare’, the woozy depth of ‘Hallucinations’ and the chaotic dissonance of ‘Monster’, showcasing the full spectrum of what PVRIS now represents and delivered with crystalline precision, these feel like more than songs. They are snapshots in time reclaimed, showing off every haunted doubt and heavenly realisation that inspired and carried them beautifully.
As a bruising ‘My House’ and decadently empowering ‘GODDESS’ see things out, it’s impossible to deny just how powerful a set this has been. A swaggering, spine-tingling, sensational display from a band that deserves all of the love, adoration and hip shakes pointed their way throughout this milestone.
The world is very much there for the taking.
