it’s a common misconception that when someone gets into a healthy relationship, their mental illness is “cured” and they’re now fine since they have a significant other. but that’s totally wrong — people’s mental illness is not dependent on their relationship status.

being in a relationship with someone who has a mental illness should mean that you support them through their tough times. it’s educating yourself about their diagnosis and trying to be empathetic, understanding, and compassionate.
