Today is #FilmFriday, and while we’re plenty excited for the holidays, we can’t help but miss summer a bit when looking at these photos from elodiethelliez. But 2025 is just around the corner, and it’s going to be good camping weather before we know it. 

Elodie is based in New Mexico, but she spends a lot of time on the road, going wherever good photos can be found. “For me, film is the perfect intersection of a creative mind and a body that spends a high volume of time in the outdoors. Nothing compares to the accuracy in how film photography captures my experiences: in the unbeatable softness and color and motion. I spent some months this summer living out of my truck, roadtripping around the west. With my film cameras in tow, I documented my backpacking expeditions, frequent lake dips, new friends, and anything that i desired to be saved in memory. I like to think that my work reflects a unique synthesis of my southwestern upbringing and my love for sports and the backcountry. The patience, selectivity, presence, and faith required to create film photographs continues to make it a huge component of my life and a most rewarding creative outlet.” Words and photos by elodiethelliez, taken with a Nikon N90S on Kodak Gold 200 and Portra 160.
