Story: This is a sign which is perfect for the dark sky. Under a southern sky so dark you can hear the silence, this little brown sign points straight into the Milky Way. Somewhere between Lake Pukaki and Aoraki-Mt Cook, State Highway 80 slips into the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark-Sky Reserve—New Zealand’s cosmic sanctuary.  It was from last month when I had an astro-tour in New Zealand and when we drove back from Aoraki-Mt Cook Village, we saw this sign and immediately we parked at the road side. This is one of the iconic landmark for the true darkness of NZ.
