LAG leader and IFTJ participant, Molly Wysocki is spending her summer in Rome doing an internship with the Vatican about Laudato Si.

Last week, she was able to attend the Mass for Creation and met Pope Leo! She passed along these pictures and this reflection:

"I recently attended the Mass for the Care of Creation, celebrated by Pope Leo XIV, with the staff of Borgo Laudato si’, a new initiative at the Vatican focused on sustainability and integral ecology. Despite all of the formalities that accompanied Pope Leo’s presence, the experience was strikingly familial. A certain calmness and sense of peace enveloped the Madonnina Garden where it was held, juxtaposing the urgency of the pope’s call to environmental action in his homily. As I listened intently to the sounds of nature around me during the Mass, the divinity of the space came alive. The Prayers of the Faithful referenced the recent floods in Texas– a moment that brought our interconnectedness and shared human vulnerability into clearer focus, even from 5,000 miles away. The Mass reaffirmed my most fundamental belief that we’re all in this together. We’re all invited to the Eucharistic table, and we all have a responsibility to care for one another at that table. This summons to solidarity gives me hope– hope that, through dialogue and encounter, we may experience a collective conversion of heart and find the courage to confront the environmental challenges before us with shared conviction and clarity."
