I guarantee that you will see the children start to sprint in when you introduce this subtle change in language to your coaching! 2. Get down to their level. When you crouch or kneel, children feel more connected to you and are far more likely to listen. It’s a small change that builds trust and makes your message land. 3. Ask, “Who is listening?” This is a great way to encourage children to show you that they are listening. It encourages eye contact, gets children to stop bouncing the ball, and helps them engage more attentively. 4. Notice and praise those who are listening. By highlighting good listening, you encourage the rest of the group to follow. Be specific so your praise becomes a clear cue for others. 5. Change the volume of your voice.
