Get to know varsity girls golf Coach Aaron Helms ⛳️ “Take it seriously, but don’t forget you’re blessed to get to play. Have fun! You’ll play better if you do.”

Coach Helms started playing golf in 10th grade when a former graduate took time to teach him the game. That gesture sparked a lifelong love for the sport and a desire to give back. In year three of building the varsity girls’ golf program, Coach Helms brings a style that’s all about work, play, and fun.

A highlight from this year? Caroline Wells sinking a 50-foot putt on the final hole of a tri-match, clinching the win by one stroke. “It felt like a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth.”

From Top Golf season openers to post-match laughter, Coach Helms is building more than skill. He’s helping create the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

His prayer for the team? “That these girls would look back on these years and smile. Wins, maybe. New friendships, probably. Great times and great memories? Absolutely.”

His summer advice? Chip and putt twice as much as you hit on the range. That’s where you drop strokes fastest.

Proverbs 22:1 guides his coaching, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.” Character matters more than a scorecard.
