“Everyday I face the same problem. It is hard to get people to listen to me because of my disability. Having cerebral palsy, a lot of people in general think my disability effects my cognitive, like I can’t express my thoughts.” 

Last week I had the pleasure to photograph @suzhen526 while she trained with @trainwithkelz. They have been training the past two years. It was great to see their bond and how hard and fun their training sessions are. After the training session, I got some insight on Su and how her day to day is. It’s disheartening to listen to her voice her frustrations because of her disability . 

“It’s very hard to get normal day to day things done. I have to repeat my self 10 times a day because people do not take me serious. I shouldn’t have to threaten a company that I will call corporate to get my basic needs met. Like waiting weeks or months for a wheelchair replacement that should take a few days. I’m force to get a privately paid $3000 wheelchair while I wait for my broken chair which is still in my home to be taken out and replaced.” 

When asked what she would tell her younger self, “Be resilient and keep fighting for yourself. “We don’t need to fix our disability, we need to fix our society” #ExcellenceNoExcuses
