Nature can be startlingly beautiful 😮

“Last December, I decided to visit a Kingfisher hide in southwest Scotland. I set my alarm for 4am and made the 3-hour journey up north. I was amazed by the heavy snow that was falling during the drive and was rather unsure how this would affect my day and the Kingfishers. 

I arrived at the location in darkness and trudged through the deep snow until I made it inside the hide. It was an open hide with no window, and I remember feeling like I might not have been wearing enough pairs of socks! 

The morning began slowly, but luckily, as the light improved, the Kingfishers started visiting the area frequently and landing on their designated perches. 

This particular shot was my favourite from the day. The light was just right, and I love the striking blue colours matched with the soft orange tones in the background. All in all, it was well worth the freezing toes!”
