We had so many meaningful experiences with Ori Mor Yusef, our Upper Division shinshinit from jewish_colorado that we cannot believe the year is over and we will miss her so much!

This year was our first year to have shinshinit included in iur ‘adjunct teacher’ plan, where Ori lead and executed a course in our Wednesday elective classes. Ori offered and Israeli Culture class to middle and high school students and every lesson was packed with Israeli fun!

Ori was always looking for the best way to ‘bring Israel’ to the classroom, she taught with so much creativity, relevancy and created a space for the students to ask and learn about Israel post October 7th.

Ori really cared for her students and made real connections with them. In one of her “Israeli Culture” lessons with middle school, Ori and her students made friendship bracelets to give to 6th and 7th graders in Ramat HaNegev where her sister Stav was madricha in the Moshavim youth movement. While Ori was making the bracelets with her students, her sister Stav was making the same bracelets with names (see pictures and videos in this post) to hand to Ori for the students here in Denver Jewish Day School!

This beautiful gift exchange was another example of the strong connection we have with the Ramat HaNegev partnership. Ori: “Now when the Colorado students come to Israel to visit, they will see their friendship bracelets buddies and even recognize them by their bracelets!” 

We wish Ori all the best in her future endeavors, have a great time in camp and behatzlacha in the IDF. You will always have a home here in DJDS, to us you are a real TIGER! #denverjds #gotigers #shinshinit 🇮🇱
