## Caption

UC San Diego women’s basketball defeated UC Davis 75-66 to win the 2025 Big West Championship and earn the program’s first-ever bid to March Madness. 

After starting the season 1-8, they found their groove in conference play to finish fourth in the regular season Big West standings. The Tritons then rattled off three wins in a row in Henderson, including a last-second win to upset No. 1-seeded Hawai’i in the semifinal. Redshirt sophomore guard Gracie Gallegos was key for the Tritons in Saturday’s title game, scoring a career-high 24 points and adding 7 rebounds. After scoring a career-high 29 points against Cal Poly and delivering the knockout blow to the Rainbow Wahine, sophomore guard Sumayah Sugapong won Big West player of the tournament. 

UCSD will play its first ever Division I NCAA tournament game next week.
