This week, we are spotlighting utexasrtf student Trinity Phu for a #SummerXMoody feature! Trinity is out in Los Angeles this summer, interning at NBC as a current and development production intern in the lifestyle and documentary department. She chose the creative lifestyle and documentary department because she is passionate about stories about real people, and loves to see how shows are selected, developed and produced.

Trinity’s coursework in utexasrtf taught her how to thrive in a collaborative environment, and these skills have seamlessly transferred to her experience at NBC, where she is part of a large team. “Being able to work well together is critical when there are so many different projects going on!”

“I’m learning so much about the whole process of taking an idea and developing that into an actual show. There is so much thought, intention, and detail that is put into everything that gets made at NBC. That meticulous effort is super inspiring to witness and also to be a part of.”

One of the most interesting aspects of her internship has been the brainstorming sessions. The entire department gathers to pitch a variety of ideas, and Trinity enjoys the creative atmosphere where no idea is considered bad.

This summer, Trinity has discovered that she prefers working in person at the office rather than remotely. As an extrovert, she enjoys the human connection and being around people.

Trinity is also having a great time in Los Angeles. She loves the weather and often visits Calidum Cafe, where she enjoys a strawberry matcha. In her downtime, she is watching “Invincible,” “The Studio” and, of course, loveislandusa. Looking ahead, Trinity is excited to finish her senior year and hopes to continue working in development after graduation! 🎓🤘
