Mini drivers burst onto the scene in 2014, when TaylorMade launched the SLDR Mini - a club built to bridge the gap between a driver and a 3-wood. Back then, it was seen as a niche experiment. But now? Titleist, PXG, and TaylorMade are all making them - and they’re even popping up in Tour bags. A mini driver is basically a mixture between a compact driver and a strong 3-wood. Compared to a driver It’s got a smaller head around 350cc, a higher loft usually 11 to 13 degrees, and a shorter shaft around 43 inches.  This means more control off the tee — without giving up much distance. They’re perfect for tight fairways, windy conditions, or anyone who lacks confidence with a full 460cc driver. But that control comes with a trade-off: You lose a bit of forgiveness and carry compared to modern drivers, especially on off-center hits. Some are tough to hit off the deck, and you might need to drop another club to make room for it. Still, for golfers who want a reliable and comfortable club off the tee, they’re seriously worth a look. So are mini drivers the future of golf?
