Exactly one year on from his near-fatal Hungaroring crash, Felipe Massa led the German Grand Prix through a slingshot start from third, On This Day fifteen years ago. ☝️

After resisting pressure from team-mate Fernando Alonso for over half the race, Massa lost crucial seconds lapping traffic until a barely coded message from race engineer Rob Smedley left Massa slowing to allow Alonso past for the win. 🥀

Ferrari were later fined $100,000 for implementing banned team orders, but the win stood - the WMSC concluded that such a ban was difficult to police. 🤷
