A farewell to Coach Dr. Barry Davis, his statement following the resignation below,

Serving as the head coach here at Rider University has been an honor for the past 20 years. But there comes a time when you must decide to move forward personally and professionally. As difficult a decision as this is, it is the right one. My goals and aspirations remain aligned with excellence. My vision is still to reach even higher, which is what I intend to do. Where and with who, that is the beauty of this next chapter. I want to teach, lead, and serve to help others reach their full potential and become elite in their chosen field.
 
The last two decades have left me with tremendous memories and accomplishments. Six conference championships – two regular seasons, four tournaments, and four NCAA appearances. My players displayed greatness both on the field and in the classroom. There are too many to mention. You made us all proud. Thank you for buying into a culture that stresses teamwork and individual greatness. It was not easy early on, but we proved many people wrong. Thank you for being committed to the collective cause we stressed. You will lose with talent, but you will never win without it. You are the reason Rider Baseball was successful.
 
Thank you to all of my assistant coaches, who burned the candle at both ends. It was always two jobs, lessons at all hours of the morning and night, and driving those extra miles to be able to do the one thing you love to do—teach and coach. I am indebted to each one who dedicated themselves to the common cause. It is my hope you have taken at least something I may have taught you because you have certainly taught me. 
 
Thank the baseball alumni who supported your program with donations and words of encouragement. Thank you to those who accepted me into your fraternity. It is a strong group that has achieved much, both as players and community leaders.
