North Carolina Central head coach Trei Oliver has accused Virginia Tech of sideline tampering during last season’s game against Howard.

Oliver says a Virginia Tech staff member was spotted on the Eagles’ sideline allegedly recruiting their star running back — who ultimately transferred to Virginia, not VT, in a deal Oliver claims was worth $400,000.

The player in question, J’Mari Taylor, is now with Virginia after a stellar 2024 season at NC Central, where he was a Walter Payton Award finalist.

Virginia Tech released a statement denying wrongdoing after the allegations surfaced.
