In Carver, Massachusetts, Dom Fernandes of Fresh Meadows Farm is one of the few remaining Cape Verdean cranberry farmers, carrying forward a family legacy in a region once rich with small generational farms. 

Working alongside his brother, as they did as kids helping their dad, Dom navigates challenges as many farms are sold to corporations or conservation. 

Determined to sustain their 40-acre farm, he pivots to dry-harvesting organic cranberries under his own label to add value. 

Dom’s dedication runs deep, and he hopes to inspire other farmers to adapt and survive in today’s shifting agricultural landscape.
