Well, one thing is certain after flying the A-10 Thunderbolt II flight simulator… I should not be a pilot. But holy crap that was fun. I even hit something that I was trying to shoot. 💪Thanks for the private instruction Lt Col Jason Attinger, Wing Plans - also know as team.madman. (And thanks for the shirt.) I won’t lie, it was kind of exciting to get to see so many restricted areas. Don’t worry, I didn’t sneak my phone into the simulator, most of these shots were taken by a Guard photographer! 😂

As part of my work serving as an Honorary Commander with the 124fighterwing, I was invited to Gowen Field for “BOSS LIFT”. I learned so much that I didn’t know about the idahonationalguard and the 124fighterwing and their mission. I was also able to attend a Change of Command ceremony as two more honorary commanders joined in the Maintenance group where I am serving. Lead by my commander - Lt. Col. Scott Walker 124th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander. Also known as johnniegoesbrrrt.

This is an annual event where the Idaho National Guard welcomes nearly 100 local employers for the “Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Boss Lift.”

“The Idaho National Guard couldn’t exist without the support of our Soldiers’ employers,” said Idaho National Guard commander Maj. Gen. Tim Donnellan. “Boss Lift is our opportunity to thank them and show them first hand what their employees do for our state and our nation.” Boss Lift participants took a flight in a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter to view the Orchard Combat Training Center, learned about M1A2 Abrams tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles at the 204th Regional Training Institute, and experienced what it feels like to fly an A-10 Thunderbolt II in our state-of-the-art flight simulator. We also had ample opportunity for learning about the benefits of serving in the Guard and the positive impact service has on Idaho communities across the state.”

It was an honor to participate.
