We couldn’t celebrate and promote the achievements of Kern High School District students without our longest-running community partnership with Valley Strong Credit Union.⁣

Valley Strong Credit Union has continued to support our students year after year: sponsoring PEAAK Awards, All‑Star games, and our latest endeavor, In the Huddle, and helping deliver KHSD’s Achieve Magazine to readers across Kern County. Valley Strong has deep roots in the KHSD. In 1938, a small group of teachers formed a financial cooperative for school employees and their families. Their first “office” was a small room in the library of Bakersfield High School, which was run by a single volunteer, where transaction receipts were kept in a shoebox. ⁣

Valley Strong has come a long way since 1938, with more than 20 locations across six counties in California. We are proud to say that because of our longstanding partnership with Valley Strong, our KHSD Achieve Magazines are available for free in each of its Bakersfield branch locations. ⁣
