We continue to celebrate legacies and family traditions here at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office!
 
Meet Shelby Barrios and her father, Rick Barrios. Rick dedicated 39 years to our department, serving in various roles, most notably in investigations. His journey began in 1980 as a Cadet at the Sheriff’s Station on Poli Street in Ventura, and he retired with honor as a Commander.
 
Shelby has proudly followed in her father’s footsteps, contributing 12 years to our team. Her roles have spanned from extra help in the Sheriff’s Systems Bureau to a Sheriff’s Service Technician at Todd Road Jail, and now as a Deputy working at the Main Jail and Fillmore patrol.
 
Inspired by her father’s unwavering commitment to justice, Shelby joined the Sheriff’s Office to help people, solve crimes, and make a difference just like her dad. Today, she carries on his legacy with pride and determination.
